Description

Along the west section of the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway the road takes you into the “Heart of the Sierra”, with views of the Sierra peaks all the way up to the base of the wilderness. One of many destination points is Mammoth Pool, a man-made reservoir on the San Joaquin River that is 5 miles long. This area offers some of Sierra National Forest’s most unique and splendid beauty with recreational activities that include camping, picnicking, hiking, and fishing. At Mammoth Pool recreational activities also include boating, water-skiing, personal watercraft riding and non-motorized boating.
