Description

The Bear Creek Trail is primarily a winter trail and not recommended for summer use. From its start at Nome Creek Road, this trail climbs gradually to cross a ridge before paralleling the Beaver Creek drainage. It crosses Champion Creek and Bear Creek shortly before reaching its end at Richards Cabin.

Directions

To access the Bear Creek Trail start at milepost 42 of the Steese Highway, travel the McKay Creek Trail north for 7.5 miles, then travel the Lower Nome Creek Trail for 6.5 miles to Nome Creek Road. The Bear Creek Trail starts directly across the road. Another way to access the Bear Creek Trail is to drive to milepost 57 of the Steese Highway, then travel the U.S.Creek Road 7 miles to the Nome Creek Bridge, then travel west on the Nome Creek Road approximately 11 miles. The Bear Creek Trail starts from the road.
